Academic Qualifications

A player must be homeschooled or attend a private, Christian school.

A player must be living at home with a parent or guardian.

A player is ineligible if that player has gone through a homeschool, public school, or private school high school graduation ceremony prior to that season's first game.

A player must be passing all courses in order to participate in a contest or tournament. Verification of grades and academic standing must be provided upon request by coaching staff or TCA Board members.

Athletic Grade Classifications and Designations

Trinity Christian Athletics utilizes an age-based classification system for athletic participation. 

For classification purposes, junior varsity includes students age 12-15.  Varsity includes students through age 18.  

Any student age 16 or above on August 15th is ineligible for participation on a junior varsity team.   A student who turns 16 during the season may complete the season on a junior varsity team.   

Maximum Age Qualifications

Any student age 18 or below on August 15th is eligible for participation on a varsity team.   A student who turns 19 during the season may complete the season on a varsity team. 

A player is ineligible to play on a junior varsity team on the next August 15th following that player’s 15^th birthday.

Minimum Grade/Age Qualifications

A player must be at least 12 years old on August 15th of the current school year in order to participate on a junior varsity team.

Transfers and Expulsions

If a player started the season on another homeschool, public, or private school team, no transfer shall be allowed during the season without the approval of the TCA Board.

If a player was expelled from a public or private school during the academic school year or in the year prior, no transfer shall be allowed without the approval of the TCA Board.

A player cannot play on another homeschool, public, or private school team in the same sport at the same time as playing on a TCA-sponsored team.

Exceptions

Exceptions to any eligibility requirement (except age limitations) may be made only by express approval of the TCA Board. No exceptions will be permitted to the age limitations.
